Huawei Battery Prototype: Charge your phone in 5 minutes
Mobile powerhouse Huawei, who released potentially the best iPhone alternative to date, has now revealed two prototypes for batteries that can be fully charged within only minutes.
The two prototypes include a lower capacity and a higher capacity unit.
Huawei Battery Charge Speed
The low capacity battery doesn’t contain enough juice to keep a smartphone going for long, but charges to 68% in just two minutes.
The high capacity quick charge battery was at 48% in just five minutes which is enough for 10 hours of talk time according to Huawei.
Israeli company Storedot claims to have found a way to charge any smartphone in just one minute – and any electric car in just five minutes. They call their product FlashBattery – you can see a demonstration above from about 00:59.
We’re not sure yet when this technology will make it onto our mobiles. Huawei require a special charger for this to work and no timescale has been given for when the technology might be small and cheap enough to mass produce.
A Huawei spokesperson did say “Soon, we will all be able to charge our batteries to full power in the time it takes to grab a coffee!”.
