Voice over IP Telephony

What is VoIP?

Voice over IP (VoIP) technology digitizes the voice signal in a telephone call, converting it into 'data packets' that can be routed over the Internet. At its most basic this enables two people to speak to each other from where ever they are in the world over the Internet for the cost of a local call.

The increasing availability of bandwidth and the rapid technological developments in the telecoms arena have seen a new generation of VoIP carriers emerge.  These VoIP carriers operate in the much the same way as traditional call carriers but transmit your call over the internet to a telephone exchange that is local to the recipient. As a result, long distance and International phone call costs can be significantly reduced, delivering substantial savings on your phone bill.

What are the advantages?

Reduced cost of ownership: VoIP phone systems allow you to secure the lower call costs offered by Internet telephony.

Enhanced functionality: VoIP enables you to integrate your IT and telephone systems, allowing you to manage your telephone from your computer and integrate with applications such as Outlook, ACT and other CRM applications.

Cost of acquisition: VoIP telephone systems can be installed using existing IT network cabling, simplifying installation and reducing set up costs.
