| The Project
Drivers: |
Established
in 1947, the International Bar Association, (IBA), is the
world's leading organisation for international legal
practitioners, Bar Associations and Law Societies. As a result they keep a large volume of both sensitive and critical data
relating to internal staff and clients. As part of their Business Continuity Planning
(BCP) provision, there was a requirement to provide a complete Disaster Recovery Solution for IT.
System recovery had to be delivered within a predetermined time limit
to ensure restoration of critical business functions should a disaster occur.
|
| Our Solution: |
Based on our evaluation of their current and projected requirements, Online Support was able to provide a full Disaster Recovery Solution. This was delivered through a combination of our Online Backup Service and hosted DRS server in our data centre. The Server is connected to the IBA network over the internet using a secure tunnel. Any changes made on the
local servers are then replicated to the remote server. With the addition of the Online Backup Service, data from the previous night's backup can be quickly restored to the hosted server.

| The Benefits |
Operational
Continuity:
 |
Minimal downtime in the event of a disaster. |
Automatic:
 |
This
solution removes any manual intervention in the back up
process, with no off site site tape storage or swapping
required. |
Reliability:
 |
More reliable than traditional tape backup systems which need constant maintenance to keep them running successfully. The regular problem of backups exceeding physical tape size was eliminated. |
Resilience:
 |
No matter what happens to the servers or offices, an up to date and complete copy of the data is securely stored off-site.
|
Cost:
 |
The
cost of backing up data was reduced with the elimination of expensive tape
hardware and secure, off site tape storage. |
