Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

Fire, flood, virus infection, power outage and terror threats can all potentially damage or deny your staff access to company data and IT systems.

In the event of a major incident, a Disaster Recovery Plan that enables your staff to access your company systems, data and communication infrastructure is essential to ensuring operational and business continuity. Online Support has a portfolio of services to help you develop and activate a robust Disaster Recovery Strategy:

Online Backup Services

Current, complete and accessible company data is one of the most critical aspects of any Disaster Recovery Plan. Our online backup service automatically ensures that you have an up to date and complete copy of all your data securely stored off-site. Nightly copies of all your data are encrypted and then transmitted over the Internet to our Data Centre in Brentford.

Advantages of this system include:

Once established an automated online back up requires no user intervention. There is no need to remember to insert fresh tapes every night or to arrange for tapes to be taken to secure storage off-site.

Reliable
Online backups are more secure and reliable than traditional tape backup systems which need constant maintenance to keep them running successfully.

Available
No matter what happens to your servers or offices, an up to date and complete copy of your data is securely stored off-site.

Secure
We employ the very latest encryption technology and best practice security procedures to ensue your data is secure and protected at all times, including: SSL transmission protocol, with1024 bit RSA key exchange, 128 bit RC4 stream cipher and SHA-1 integrity checking. All data is stored using 448-bit encryption with account encryption keys stored separately.

Hosted DR Servers

In the case of catastrophic data loss, an online back up can be used to restore your data and deliver operational continuity, however, in the event of a major ‘denial of access’ incident like a fire, it may be days or even weeks before you can regain access to your premises and surviving equipment. Finding new or temporary offices, purchasing new servers and then restoring your IT systems and data can all take time. Time that can make the difference between survival and business failure.

To help you manage this risk, we can host one or a number of Disaster Recovery servers for you at our Data Centre in Brentford. These servers would be preconfigured with your key applications, and should disaster strike, we can restore your data (from our Online Backup service) and have your server environment back up and running within a day. Your staff can access these servers over the Internet or we can transport them to your office or disaster recovery facility where they can be used onsite until the original equipment has been repaired or replaced
